The recent reveal of the Android Marshmallow update has ignited excitement in the tech community, as people grow even more eager to see what is new with the latest firmware.

As of now, Google has reportedly focused on six major points of emphasis when it comes to the rollout of their newest operating system (OS) update; those include app links, control over app permissions, auto backup of phone date onto Google Drive, the mobile payments that are promising to change the way people handle financial transactions, improved power efficiency, and quicker phone access using fingerprints.

Those are just some of the more notable features of the OS update thus far, and it has led to a growing number of people wondering whether or not they will be receiving the update when it does come out.

This time, the focus will be on Samsung device owners. Word has begun to trickle out online regarding which devices are already being lined up to get the Android Marshmallow update when it is ready, and which ones will likely miss out, at least at the start.

As of now, the list of Samsung devices likely to receive the new Android update when it is ready includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note 4 Duos, the Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Duos, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy ALPHA and the Galaxy Tab A, according to GSM Arena. It should be noted that this is reportedly not the final list and that some devices could still be added to it.

One Samsung device that looks like it will not be receiving the Android Marshmallow update is the Galaxy S5, according to Android Origin. If the rumor holds true, then the Galaxy S5 would be the rare Samsung phone to only receive one major update.

The Android Marshmallow update is expected to be released sometime in September.
