Although Google released Android Marshmallow last year, mobile carriers are usually the last to adopt new Android platforms. The latest to roll out an Android M 6.0 update is T-Mobile, to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The update patch notes are now live on the T-Mobile support page. In addition to the update to Android 6.0, the new patch also improves carrier-specific features for Galaxy Note 4 owners, depending on the build update. The Android Marshmallow rollout releases for two baseband versions, N910TUVU2DPE3 and N910T3UVU1DPE3. While both versions get updated to Marshmallow, only N910TUVU2DPE3 will receive the Google Voice fix, while N910T3UVU1DPE3 will get an anti-theft update.

Since it is a major update, T-Mobile has also noted that users should try to download and install the update with at least half of the battery capacity remaining, and it may also be better to have WiFi connectivity or at least make sure to have strong data connection. Meanwhile, as with previous Android platform releases, the staggered release may take days before updating all Galaxy Note 4 devices under T-Mobile. Users who have yet to receive the OTA notification for the Android Marshmallow update may also manually check for the 1.5GB file through the Settings and About Device tabs.

Aside from the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, T-Mobile is also pushing Android Marshmallow 6.0 to the Galaxy Note Edge. According to GSM Arena, the rollout is now starting for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge owners under T-Mobile subscriptions. The update also comes as a major 1.52 GB download, and the software version for the new platform will update to version N915TUVU2CPE3. As with the Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge users can also manually check if the download is already available for their device even without the OTA notification, since the release is also a staggered rollout and may take days to make it to all Galaxy Note Edge units under the mobile carrier.
