Tech makers are now starting to roll out their own Android Nougat 7.0 updates. The newest entry for the update is Sony Mobile, as the development team starts rolling out the update through its beta program on the Sony Xperia X Performance.

XperiaBlog mentions that the update is only the beta version of the Android Nougat 7.0 for the Xperia and that it is a closed rollout for a "lucky few" Xperia X Performance devices. Aside from a select number of owners, it is also hinted that the beta rollout is only available in select regions. It is unclear if Sony Mobile will expand the beta program to other Xperia X Performance users later on or if the update serves as a trial run for the device, and a full version Android Nougat 7.0 will then roll out for the rest once the trial period ends.

With the supposed screens for the update, it is revealed that the trial beta is only open to the single SIM variant (F8131) of the Xperia X Performance. The release will then update the devices to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat platform that has the firmware build number 39.2.A.0.248. This means that this is the latest build for the device, as it already includes the Oct. 1 update for Google Security patches.

Although Sony still has not officially announced that start of the update, it is already expected that the Xperia X Performance will be the first device to receive Android Nougat 7.0. As with other tech makers, Sony Mobile releases the latest Android platform to the most recent lineup iteration first, with previous-gen devices on the list getting the update next.

Meanwhile, with the Xperia X Performance already on the beta program, it is also expected that other devices in the lineup, such as the Xperia X Ultra and the base model versions, will also get the Android Nougat 7.0 update soon.
