Samsung has already started its Galaxy Beta program for the Android Nougat 7.0 update. However, the update is only for the Galaxy S7 series. Speculations suggest that previous-gen Galaxy S6 is next in line to receive the beta version of the new Android platform.

According to SamMobile, a supposed benchmark listing showcasing the Samsung Galaxy S6 running on Android Nougat 7.0 has been making its rounds online. While the alleged image remains unofficial, the industry follower believes that the Galaxy S6 will get the update, albeit a beta version, soon. Previously, it has been mentioned that the South Korea-based company is already testing development for Android Nougat beta for the previous-gen Samsung flagship. In addition, since the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are already in the beta program, it is expected that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are the next flagship iterations in the list.

Having the Galaxy S6 series added to the Samsung Galaxy Beta program also dovetails with the expected timeline schedule for the update. Supposedly, Samsung is also working on other flagships to be added to the program, like the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2. A simultaneous release for the three series flagships is highly likely.

Meanwhile, since the Samsung Galaxy Beta program is already in progress, it is expected that the tech maker will start rolling out a full version release soon. With the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge already in the program, it is said that a full version Android Nougat 7.0 update may roll out for the current-gen flagship by next month. Should this happen, then other flagships like the Galaxy S6 will likely receive a full version update by early next year.

Although a previous-gen iteration, the Galaxy S6 remains popular among Samsung flagship fans. Along with the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 remains as one of the top Samsung flagships listed, since Samsung has discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 iteration.
