Previously, Sony Mobile has launched its Android Nougat beta program for the Xperia X Performance. Next on the update list is the Xperia X, as a concept version of the new platform starts to roll out for the device.

In the announcement posted on its website, Sony Mobile mentioned that the concept version of the Android Nougat is now live for the Xperia X, as the tech maker hopes to "use customer feedback and real-time usage data to ensure the software contains the things you enjoy and find most useful, but also allowing for greater responsiveness in providing regular firmware with shorter release cycles."

However, it is unclear if the concept version has started with a staggered release or if it is just a test phase with selected participants. The post also confirmed that the Android Nougat Concept for Android update is only available for Xperia X devices in Europe, specifically the Xperia X F5121 version. The announcement also revealed that not all F5121 builds may have been selected for the update, as users will need to check for market and operator exceptions.

Those who already have the Concept Installer app will likely get the notification for the update automatically, with the Concept for Android file to follow. Meanwhile, Xperia X users who want to check if their devices are compatible with the update may download the app first on the Google Store.

The Xperia X receiving the Android Nougat platform at around this time is already expected, since Sony Mobile has already rolled out the beta program for its top-tier variant, the Xperia X Performance. Usually, tech makers roll out major Android updates on their most recent releases first, working downwards on the list. For the Xperia lineup, the Android Nougat update is expected to roll out up to the Xperia Z3+, as specs requirements for the new platform forego the update for the Xperia Z3 and below.
