Google has recently released its Android Wear 2.0, and Android smartwatch owners have now a wider range of options on what apps they can download on their own smartwatch. Thankfully, many of the apps that come with the Android Wear 2.0 are not only helpful but also come for free.

With the growing popularity of smartwatches, it is a relief that the wearable device is no longer limited to Apple. Now, non-Apple fans can decide to go for Huawei Watch 2, LG Watch Style, Moto 360, or other Android smartwatches and download the latest apps that can run on their wearable devices — thanks to the release of the Android Wear 2.0 OS update last month.

While there are a lot of apps that an Android smartwatch user can download, one of the most recommended is the Citymapper. According to reports, the Citymapper is a good alternative to Google Maps as it lets the user navigate to his Home and Work locations specified in its mobile app counterpart. The good thing is, despite its usefulness, the Citymapper comes for free.

However, the Citymapper is not the only free app that is worth the download. IFTTT is also another highly recommended free app that an Android smartwatch user can go for. While its name is difficult to pronounce, IFTTT actually stands for "If This Then That." This free app allows an Android smartwatch owner to link his wearable device to his social media accounts and emails by creating "Recipes" and get notifications straight to his smartwatch.

Gmail is another free app that can be downloaded for free on one's Android smartwatch. While almost everybody now owns a Gmail account, downloading the app on an Android wearable device enables one to be updated real time with the emails he gets without having to check his phone all the time.

Of course, there are many other apps that an Android smartwatch owner can download for free or for a price. All that one needs to do is just go to Google Store and determine what apps for his Android smartwatch will be most useful for him.
