The new mobile phone game from Nintendo, "Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp," has launched its Christmas event. During this limited-time affair, players will get a chance to bring the holiday spirits to their campsites with their favorite holiday decorations.

The holiday event started Thursday and with it came a host of new furniture and other items that have been unlocked for mobile players. However, in order to avail of these season-themed furniture, players will need to collect candy canes.

Candy canes are a new currency for the Christmas event, and will be important for those who wish to collect as many Christmas-themed items as they can. These candy canes can be obtained by completing some timed goals. Players will also get a chance to earn holiday-themed clothing items by completing the said timed goals.

Players can also earn some candy canes by completing requests from the villagers and by visiting Shovelstrike Quarry, although the canes are not guaranteed.

Once players complete all of the available event goals, they will have gotten a total of 300 candy canes. However, not all of the items are cheap. There are some items that cost over a hundred candy canes to purchase. So, players need to think about which ones they want to prioritize.

It seems quite confusing why the number of candy canes that can be earned are very limited compared to the items that can be purchased with them. However, Nintendo can fix this easily if it will release more event goals.

Players will also be treated to a free Santa hat when they first open the game during the event period.

Temporary events like this is one of the signatures of the "Animal Crossing" franchise. It is nice to see that even though it is still new, Nintendo is continuing the tradition with "Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp."
