Boxing news 2015 latest: Antonio Magarito announces boxing comeback at 37

Antonio Margarito has been out of the boxing circle for quite some time now. He was last seen in 2011 when he lost via total knockout (TKO) to Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto in their scheduled rematch.

At that time, there were concerns surrounding the right eye of Margarito. It was the same eye that had incurred damage in a previous fight, the one against Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

During Cotto vs. Margarito II, Cotto got to avenge his previous loss to Margarito when the bout was stopped by doctors, seeing that the Mexican's eye had been swollen shut. Nothing has been heard of about the former boxing champion until today.

From the looks of it, Margarito may have gotten the medical clearance to return to the ring. And at 37, Margarito is hoping that he can still churn out a credible performance in the ring.

He will be looking to get help from veteran boxing trainer Robert Garcia to prime him up for his scheduled boxing return, which he hopes will happen before the year ends. Margarito wants to fight at least once before he targets the big names in the sport right now.

Should he succeed, Margarito says that he is looking to fight the winner of the Cotto vs. Canelo tiff slated for Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

"Yes of course I would go to against one of them, but I know that I must prove that I can compete at that level, I'm not worried because I know I'm to give good fights, I just need the chance to prove it," says Margarito in an interview with ESPN Deportes.

Even though it seems that he has no preference on whom to fight, he believes that Alvarez can come out with a knockout win over Cotto in 10 rounds.

Could Margarito's forecast come true? We will know this November when the much awaited mega bout finally takes place.
