Apple has already rolled out iOS 9.2.1 to majority of its devices but hacking teams are still lagging behind in putting together an iOS 9.2 jailbreak. Top hacker groups Taig and Pangu are yet to release the long-awaited software as well.

However, an Italian hacker by the name of Luca Todesco may have found a way to break into Apple's mobile software. Todesco shared screenshots of the iOS 9.2.1 beta functioning properly with Cydia.

This proves that, unlike what some people believe, the firmware is not yet as invulnerable as it is being perceived. However, Todesco admitted that it is a bigger challenge gaining access to iOS 9.2 than iOS 9.1.

This would explain why neither Taig nor Pangu are yet to come out with the iOS 9.2 jailbreak. Not too long ago, the former's collaborator, 3K Assistant, claimed that Taig is actually close to cracking the case and the jailbreak tool was to be released in a matter of days.

However, their statement was retracted when no iOS 9.2 jailbreak showed up and they then claimed that Taig is having a hard time having the iOS 9.2 jailbreak work on Apple's new software. After that, news about it became scarce.

Apple, on the other hand, continued to press forward. Just recently, the all-new iOS 9.2.1, which is centered on bug fixes and stability improvements, was released to iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch units.

The Cupertino-based company is now working on iOS 9.3. The first beta version of the firmware has already been made available to developers and users registered to Apple's beta program.

Meanwhile, Latin Post reports that Todesco will not release to the public the iOS 9.2 jailbreak software he used to gain access to the firmware. The site also believes that he may have been hired by Apple to locate vulnerabilities of the software that they can eliminate to further improve it.

That being said, jailbreak-loving users are still bound to wait for the iOS 9.2 jailbreak, if there will be any, to come around. But the fact that Todesco was able to do it shows that it isn't impossible for Taig and Pangu to do it as well.
