iOS 9 vs Android M comparison: What to expect from Apple and Google OS?

iOS9updates

Tech giant Apple Inc. announced Tuesday the new iOS 9 mobile operating system at its 2015 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event. As a successor to Apple's iOS 8, the iOS 9 operating system is expected to be released this coming fall, possibly around September.

Google's Android M, which was first introduced last May during the company's annual developer conference event in San Francisco, is also expecting a launch sometime within this year, along with new Nexus devices.

Since the iOS 9 and Android M operating systems are soon heading their way to devices, it's good users know what to expect from these two, in terms of the features and improvements.

Succeeding the Android Lollipop operating system, the upcoming Android M comes with new improvements and additions such as the "App permission" system, which enables users to accept or refuse permissions to apps.

This works when a user tries to access a mobile phone's microphone or camera. With this system, apps will have the ability to remember permissions granted by users and can be modified at any time.

The new Android M will also enable users to use fingerprint scanning for recognition and authentication on their phones, including Google's new mobile payment system, Android Pay. The fingerprint scanner can be used with the Play Store and for online shopping as well.

Android M also offers users improved user-experience for easy web and apps interaction.

For the iOS 9, on the other hand, Apple had made significant improvements to Siri's intelligence and capabilities. The operating system will come with Apple's News app which can integrate with many different news sources such as CNN and ESPN.

Apple had also made an improvement to the Maps app, allowing users to recommend different locations such as restaurants and venues.

Siri comes with "Proactive", which gives it the ability to combine information from contacts, calendar and other apps. Forbes reports that Siri will be capable of helping users with their online shopping, by reminding them of certain information.

The iOS 9 operating system can support the latest iPhones and iPads, such as the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Mini 2 and iPad Mini 3.
