Rumor has it that the long-awaited Apple iPad Air 3 will finally be released in March with more powerful specs and exciting features. It was supposed to be released alongside the Apple Watch 2 but the new-gen iteration's March launch was reportedly pushed back.

The iPad Air 3 is said to come with a 9.7-inch display with a stellar 4K screen resolution. It will apparently get an A9X processor and 2 GB to 4 GB RAM. The camera department will also be bumped up – 13 MP on the back and 5 MP on the front, although other reports say it will only have an 8-MP primary shooter and a 2.1-MP selfie snapper.

Despite these upgrades though, the iPad Air 3 will apparently miss out on the 3D Touch feature that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus boast. This is according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose Apple forecasts are almost always spot-on.

Kuo claims that Apple will not be able to integrate the feature on the tablet because of production issues. Components for the 3D Touch have become difficult for the Cupertino-based company to get hold of, which is why it will forego the tech altogether in the iPad Air 3.

There are also reports that the new-gen tablet will be water-resistant. It is important to note that the iPhone 7 is also being rumored to get an IP rating for water and dust resistance as well, which means that this pair of devices could be the first waterproof iOS devices.

While some believe Apple will lengthen the battery life of the device, other reports say the capacity will be downscaled. As for the pricing, there's word the iPad Air 3 will cost £399 or $564.

Kuo predicts that the slab will be launched during the first half of 2016. More specific reports claim a March unveiling is in order. At the moment, Apple, as usual, is mum about its plans for its iPad Air lineup.
