iPhone 6s vs Galaxy S6 vs Xperia Z5: Apple, Samsung and Sony's battle of the high-end smartphones

The battle of flagship smartphones intensifies now that some of the leading mobile device brands have already unveiled their latest products. 

This week, Apple Inc. showcased its newest iPhone 6s smartphone. But prior to the product launch from the Cupertino-based tech firm, Sony Mobile unveiled its Xperia Z5 line early this month, while Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 earlier in April. With the latest high-end products in the market today, consumers are given a lot of options that could satisfy their needs in a handheld gadgets. 

Here are the specs for all three flagship smartphones to help consumers pick which is best for them: 

iPhone 6s

The new version of Apple's smartphone comes with: a 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS screen with Retina HD with 1334 x 750 pixel resolution and 326 ppi pixel density; an Apple A9 chipset; 2 GB of RAM; and 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB internal memory options. It is also equipped with a 12-megapixel primary camera with dual-LED flash and autofocus capability as well as a 5-megapixel secondary camera for video calling and selfie shots. 

Sony Xperia Z5

The newest flagship mobile device from Sony has a 5.2-inch touchscreen display with 1280 x 1080 pixel resolution and 428 ppi density. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with a quad-core processor and Adreno 430 graphics card, 3 GB of RAM, and a built-in 32 GB memory that can be expanded up to 200 GB using its microSD slot. The device also has a 23-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 5.1-megapixel secondary shooter. 

Samsung Galaxy S6

The oldest of the three devices, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch touchscreen display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and 557 ppi pixel density. It is powered by an Exynos 7420 chipset and quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 with Mali-T760MP8 graphics card. It has 3 GB of RAM, and its memory options include 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB storage spaces. But just like the iPhone 6s, it has no microSD card slot for memory expansion. It is fitted with a 16-megapixel primary camera with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.

The iPhone 6s runs with iOS 9 and will come out on Sept. 25. The Sony Xperia Z5, to be released sometime in October, and the already available Samsung S6 both run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
