The iPhone 7 is rumored to be the thinnest in its family when it is released later this year, but with a new technology the Cupertino-based company is reportedly working on, it will no longer be forced to give up a long battery life as it did before.

According to reports, Apple is developing a new chip technology called "fan-out." This pushes the silicon chips and semiconductor closer together to save some space, which Apple will use to slot in a larger battery.

This means that the iPhone 7 will boast powerful performance and endow users with longer hours of usage while still looking sleek and thin, thus making the next-gen iPhone the most formidable yet.

While Apple's iPhone outings are generally stellar, users always find fault in the battery life of the smartphones. If Apple is indeed going for the fan-out chip technology for the iPhone 7, the flagship will be a sure-fire bigger hit.

Months back, it was also reported that Apple is trimming the iPhone 7's body by ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack for a Lightning connector. It is important to note that the latest iPhone, the 6S, is just 6.1mm thin, which is already incredibly slim for a handset with so much power.

Before reports about the so-called fan-out technology rang the web, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), one of Apple's suppliers, revealed that it was working on the said type of technology but refused to tell for whom they were doing it, as per Techno Buffalo.

There are reports that Apple will work solely with TMSC for the A10 processor to be used in the iPhone 7. If these speculations are accurate, this puts everything into place.
