There were previous reports that the Apple iPhone 7 will be made waterproof. New details about this rumor have surfaced care of Commercial Times, which claimed that the next flagship out of Cupertino will have "new compound materials" that will make the device effectively resistant to water.

In fact, to test drive the feature, Apple has reportedly made the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus secretly waterproof (tests reveal the devices are) so as to make sure that the feature works best with the next-generation Apple smartphone.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear how the so-called "compound materials" will work in waterproofing the iPhone 7 but if there's anything that the report confirmed, it is the fact that Apple is working toward a much more formidable offering.

On other hand, there are still talks regarding the development of the iPhone 7c, an economical version of the flagship. A new report claims that the device will be released in April this year, months prior to the regular version's expected September 2016 release.

According to reports, mass production for the iPhone 7c will commence this month. For the specs, rumor has it that the device will come in a 4.7-inch display much like the iPhone 5s. It will also come in space gray, silver and gold – the same color options for the aforementioned handset.

As for the iPhone 7, it is being said that it will don a build so thin that it will have to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack for a Lightning cable. It will also offer a bigger display with the home button eliminated as well. The fingerprint scanner will be on the main display instead.

Other expected specs include a USB-C port, a dual camera setup and wireless charging. Inside, it is expected to offer bigger RAM and a more powerful processor. Battery life should be vastly improved too.
