iPhone SE, iPad Pro Mini release date, specs rumors: Will reportedly be launched on March 21, not March 15

The iPhone 5S is getting a spiritual successor in the form of iPhone SEApple

The long-rumored 4-inch iPhone dubbed the iPhone SE and the so-called iPad Pro Mini will allegedly be unveiled by Apple on March 21, and not March 15 as previous reports suggested.

9to5Mac confirmed the news, crediting the information to "several sources," although Korea-based publication Underkg was the one to break the news.

It remains unclear if the iPhone SE/iPad Pro Mini event itself was moved or that March 21 was the prearranged date all along. Nevertheless, users will see the new Apple products later than expected.

The new iPhone SE and the iPad Pro Mini are believed to come out of the highly anticipated March event as well as a new line of bands for the Apple Watch. However, it's the 4-inch Apple handset that is said to be the star of the show.

The general consensus about the new iPhone is that it will boast an A9 processor complete with an M9 motion processor. Imaging-wise, it is expected to offer a 12MP rear-facing camera. It won't have the 3D Touch feature but Live Photos support and NFC will be intact.

Despite its size and its specs sheet not on par with the flagship iPhones, its price tag will not be as economical as one would imagine. According to the ever reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the device will cost around $400 to $500.

Meanwhile, Apple will also take advantage of the March event to lift the veil off the iPad Pro Mini, which is believed to be the substitute for the iPad Air 3 that everyone has been waiting for since last year. The tablet is rumored to sport a 9.7-inch anti-glare display with brightness improvements.

The new iPad Pro is also said to come with a 12MP camera and an HD FaceTime camera that are both capable of capturing 4K resolution videos. It will be powered by an A9X processor and will support both the iPad Pro accessories, the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard.
