It has been a rumor for some time now that Apple's highly anticipated MacBook Air 2016 device will arrive in the market in March next year.

According to a recent report by Geek Snack, a new rumor now suggests the upcoming device will be available sooner than expected, possibly around October or November.

The reason for the change of date, according to the report, is the intense competition among major smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics, Motorola, and LG Electronics.

Last month, it was revealed that South Korean tech giant Samsung had decided to launch its upcoming Galaxy Note 5 earlier than previously expected, which is the time before Apple releases its new iPhone. The Galaxy Note 5 was supposed to come out in September, as usual, during the IFA 2015 event.

In addition, Yibada reports that the Apple MacBook Air 2016 will cost US$899, around US$100 less expensive than its predecessor, making it the cheapest Apple laptop of all time.

In terms of the specs, the new device is expected to be available in a 13-inch and 15-inch display screens. Under the hood, there will be an Intel Core M-Based Skylake processor, according to a report by China Topix, along with 4GB RAM.

Also, according to Venture Capital Post, the MacBook Air 2016 will have a massive 128GB built-in memory storage. Apple's latest retina display screen technology will reportedly exist in the new device as well.

Another version of the device will pack 4GB RAM as well but with an even larger 256GB SSD memory space. The last model, which is the premium one, will pack a greater 8GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB internal memory, according to Christian Post.

Other news include Apple's plan to host an event launch on Sept. 9, according to reports. First Post reports that Apple's next iPhone devices are expected to be unveiled during this event.
