Apple to upgrade next generation iPad Pro with eight-core processor

Apple is set to produce a very fast device in the next generation iPad Pro, which will be featuring a new octa-core processor.

The upcoming iPad model, which is expected to be unveiled next year, will include a new A11X Bionic chip with three high-performance Monsoon cores and five energy-efficient Mistral cores.

According to reports, the new processor is built on the improved 7 nm process of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Like the A11 chip in the current iPhone 8 and iPhone X, the Taiwanese company's integrated fan-out wafer level packaging will also be featured in the A11X chips.

The new chip is also expected to feature an improved M11 motion coprocessor and a more advanced neural engine for artificial intelligence processes. These will also help toward Apple's plan to put some of the best features of the iPhone X to the future iPad, including the Face ID.

With the new processor, the upcoming iPad Pro will get a boost in performance. However, the changes to the next generation Apple tablet will not remain internal only. According to reports, the external appearance of the next iPad Pro will also drastically change.

The next tablet will take after the iPhone X, with slimmer bezels and no Home button. However, due to production restrictions, the iPad may not get the iPhone X's OLED display and will likely continue using LCD.

The improvement of the iPad Pro is in line with Apple's push to position the tablet as a replacement for Windows based personal computers. The new iOS 11 update released earlier this year adds a lot of capabilities to the tablet in terms of multitasking and file organizing, and it is expected that the iPad Pro's capabilities will only increase in time.

In its recent advertisement for the device, Apple showcased the wide array of tasks that the portable tablet is capable of and challenges the very definition of computers.
