Apple Watch 2 may contain a bigger battery cell. This may come after it was rumored that the upcoming wearable will be featuring a thinner One Glass Solution (OGS) display technology.

WCCFTech believes that the still-unannounced Apple Watch 2 could feature a bigger battery cell than its predecessor because of a small space brought about by the rumored shift to another display technology. It is now believed that Apple could use an OGS, instead of a double layer of glass, the traditional glass-on-glass (GG) technology, as reported by DigiTimes last month.

The Apple Watch, as well many Apple products that feature a touch display, uses two pieces of glass, and by eliminating one piece of the glass and making the single piece of glass a little thinner, an extra amount of space will then be available inside the smartwatch. This can then be used to increase the battery capacity. If the Cupertino tech giant will not increase its battery cell, the upcoming watch will have a reduced thickness and weight.

With regards to the features, it is rumored that the highly anticipated smartwatch might also get a front-facing camera for video calls, built-in GPS for fitness tracking and cellular connectivity that will be totally independent from an iPhone. More designs and options for its straps, a custom S2 processor to make it faster and an updated watchOS 2 to add more new features are also rumored to arrive.

MicroLED display is another rumored feature of the new watch, replacing the OLED screen. It provides richer colors, lower power consumption and offers a faster refresh rates. However, it is fairly expensive, BGR reported.

Currently, there is no word about the release date of the Apple Watch 2. Even Siri does not know the answer yet, but it is speculated to get a September launch together with the iPhone 7.
