Ariana Grande has had quite a year. As the former Nickelodeon star rose to fame as a bona fide singer, her time in the spotlight has been marred by controversies starting with her breakup with Big Sean earlier this year and her involvement in "Donutgate" last July, where camera footage appeared to show the singer licking donuts at a donut shop in California. 

But Grande is moving on from all that as she focuses on her acting and singing career. The 22-year-old celebrity was on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel" last week to showcase her singing prowess. Grande made spot-on impressions of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion in the late night show's popular segment, "Wheel of Musical Impressions." To date, the Youtube video of her appearance in the segment has garnered more than 17 million views, and many who posted comments on the site said that they were impressed with Grande's vocal range and versatility. 

Her highly anticipated turn as a sorority girl on MTV's "Scream Queens" was also well received. While her character was killed off in the premiere episode last Tuesday, co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Grande will be back in the sixth episode of the show "and maybe more." 

Speaking of Murphy for V Magazine, Grande said that she loved working with the "Glee" show creator because she is a big fan of his work. 

"It's a lot more fun that I thought it was going to be," she said about being in the series. "Everyone's been very welcoming and has made me feel right at home so it's nice." 

Murphy said that Grande is being compared to Barbra Streisand as the veteran star is also "somebody who can do a lot of things." When asked about her career and what she plans to do in the future, the "Problem" singer said that she aspires to follow in the footsteps of the "Evergreen" hit maker. 

"Barbra Streisand's career is definitely one that I would like to aim toward, just because she did everything!" said Grande.

When asked about being labeled the diva of her generation, Grande said that the media tends to blow things out of proportion and would make up rumors "in order to keep their audience interested."

"Sometimes, these people are going to say nice things, and sometimes they're going to say fake things because they need to keep their audience curious and interested," she said.
