Two football programs aiming to return on the winning track will collide today, Saturday, when the Washington State Cougars host the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Martin Stadium.

Washington State saw a three-game winning streak, which include victories over the Oregon Ducks (45–38 OT), Oregon State Beavers (52–31), and the Arizona Wildcats (45–42), get snapped in its last game against no. 8 Stanford Cardinal. 

The Cougars lost to Stanford 30–28, with kicker Erik Powell failing to score what could have been a game-winning field goal; although before that, he was able to score in his first five attempts. 

"No one's happy. We made five (field goals). We missed one at the end and we lost. ... We should have won," Cougars receiver  Gabe Marks said, according to the Associated Press. 

Meanwhile, Arizona State will try to find consistency this season when they head to the Martin Stadium today, Saturday.

The Sun Devils are having an up and down season, currently riding a two-game losing skid with a defeat suffered against the Utah Utes (34–18) and a 61–55 triple-overtime loss to Oregon. 

Arizona State competed hard against Oregon but a few mistakes and defensive lapses caused them the win. 

Included in those crucial errors were quarterback Mike Bercovici's two interceptions, but aside from those, the senior passer played well for the Sun Devils, completing 32-of-53 passes for 398 yards and five touchdowns. 

Along with his splendid passing game, Bercovici also displayed his rushing game having 16 carries for 58 yards and one touchdown. 

Following Saturday's game, the Cougars will continue the season taking on the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins. 

The Sun Devils, on the other hand, following the game, will take on the Washington Huskies next who are coming off a dominant 49–3 win over Arizona and will play Utah this Saturday as well.
