'Arrow' season 4 spoilers: Introduction of Green Arrow?

"Arrow" season 3 ended in what can be considered as one of the darkest periods in the series. Team Arrow took a dive as they fought Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins, although it ultimately ended with Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak leaving, happy and content. However, new reports indicate that Oliver isn't done being a hero and season 4 has a lot in store for the team.

Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen a.k.a. the Arrow, stated in a recent interview with E! Online that he is done with portraying the vigilante Arrow. However, when interviewed by TV Line, Amell was able to be more specific and hinted that while the Arrow is done, Oliver might return as the Green Arrow, now a city-hero like the Flash instead of a vigilante.

"Roy outed himself as the Arrow, so if I were to re-create the suit and go out, it would undo all of the sacrifice that he made. So the Arrow persona, for better or for worse, it can't exist anymore," he said.

When the interviewer asked if adding the word "Green" to the Arrow's name would change the dynamics, Amell only smiled and replied, "We'll see."

If Oliver Queen is no longer a vigilante and will now lead a team of superheroes, himself included, then it is only natural that the show would change its tone and direction. That is exactly what showrunner Marc Guggenheim stated in an interview with io9.

"Season 4 will take a lighter tone. That's pretty much the only thing I say without spoiling it," Guggenheim explained. "It's not going to radically change. The show's still going to be the show but in terms of tone, we're coming off a very, very hard season for all of our characters. We wanted to try to mix it up a little bit."

No specific premiere date for "Arrow" season 4 has been announced but according to Den of Geek, it is most likely going to air starting on Oct. 7, based on the show's tendency to air right around the same time the New York Comic-Con starts.
