There are two new guest stars confirmed for "Arrow" season 4, with one hinting that Oliver is headed to a politics-related future. Jeri Ryan has been announced to appear in the new season as Jessica Danforth, a Queen family friend intent on embarking on a political career.

Ryan's character will be the center of the second episode titled "The Candidate," as revealed by executive producer Marc Guggenheim via Twitter. Danforth's ambitions will make her a target of one "menacing antagonist."

Interestingly, Comic Book Resources thinks that Danforth's appearance suggests that the show might do a storyline from the comics in which Oliver becomes the mayor of Starling City. After all, the series is gearing to stay close to its comics counterpart, with the hero becoming Green Arrow. This remains to be seen, however.

Meanwhile, the second actor joining in will be another villain. JR Bourne from "The Vampire Diaries" was cast to play the role of Double Down, a metahuman that converts his playing card tattoos into real, deadly weapons.

Notably, this character is more associated with "The Flash" mythology so this could just be an "Arrow" and "The Flash" crossover waiting to happen. The villain, who is also known as Jeremy Tell, will appear in the third episode of "Arrow" season 4, making him the second "The Flash" villain to debut in "Arrow." Captain Boomerang was the first.

Other big characters to look forward to are Damien Darhk, the season's main antagonist, to be played by Neal McDonough. Alexander Calvert is set to play "Batman" villain Anarky, who will help Darhk with his evil plans. Echo Vellum will take on the role of Mr. Terrific while Jimmy Akingbola will be Baron Reiter.

"Arrow" season 4 will premiere on Oct. 7 with the episode "Green Arrow."
