"Arrow" season 5 premiered with a strong start, immediately taking the show back to basics, similar to how it was in season 1. Episode 2 will pick up right where the premiere left off and will see Oliver Queen, also known as Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), beginning to supervise the training the three recruits who are hoping to join his team of vigilantes.

Titled "The Recruits," it will see Curtis (Echo Kellum) begin his training as a vigilante. The trailer also showcases guest stars Rick Gonzalez and Madison McLaughlin as Wild Dog and Evelyn Sharp, respectively. Oliver is then shown asking them to try and ring a bell, but they have to get past Oliver to succeed.

When Oliver gets too rough on them, Wild Dog complained, stating he was there to train and not to just get beat up, indicating that he and Evelyn might want to quit due to how Oliver is too harsh on them. This rough method of training may have stemmed from the fact that Laurel (Kattie Cassidy) died, and Oliver probably wants his new teammates to be better prepared for battle.

The trailer then reveals that a terrorist attack has taken place, and Thea (Willa Holland) comments that this gives Oliver the perfect opportunity to test his recruits. Oliver doesn't like the idea, stating that his new teammates are still too unprepared. It is possible that during this first mission, one or two of them may quit the team.

As noted by Comic Book Movie, the episode will also continue the flashbacks and will reveal the initiation process Oliver went through to get into the Bratva, the Russian mob. How Oliver became a member of the Bratva has always been a mystery, and these flashbacks will reveal how he became a high ranking member as well as how he found himself back on the island.

"Arrow" season 5 episode 2 is scheduled to air on Oct. 12.
