It seems the popularity of "Assassin's Creed: Origins" has drawn the attention of some Hong Kong animators and artists, as the game gets a high-quality anime trailer.

Although the game has been out for several days now, Paperbox Creations and Ubisoft Hong Kong have released a new animated trailer on Twitter. The trailer opens up with an Anubis priest in a mummifying ceremony who then transitions into Bayek's, the in-game protagonist, hawk as he prepares to assassinate his targets.

Bayek jumps into the fray and single-handedly takes down all the guards before finally assassinating his target using the iconic hidden blade, all in fluid hand-drawn animations. The trailer only lasted a minute but shows the quality of the work that Paperbox Creations has put into the game, as well as faithfully showcasing the game's combat, where Bayek is usually outnumbered but is ultimately able to overcome his enemies.

The trailer is not only faithful to the game but to history as well. The opening scene where the Anubis priest weighs the heart of the dead person being mummified was actually done in practice in ancient Egypt, as they believed that the weight of the heart upon death will dictate whether the person will enter the afterlife or not.

Their belief was that the heart needed to be as light as a feather in order for the person being mummified to enter the afterlife since good deeds apparently make the heart lighter while bad ones make it heavier. Should the heart be not as light as a feather, the corpse would have been fed to Ammut, the crocodile-head god in ancient Egyptian religion.

This same level of historical accuracy is also to be expected in the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" animated series for Netflix, which is being made by "Castlevania" animated series creator Adi Shankar. That said, fans might want to hold their breaths as it was not specified yet which time period in the "Assassin's Creed" franchise the animated series will adopt.
