'Assassin's Creed Origins' trailer, release date, DLC news: An epic journey to ancient Egypt

"Assassin's Creed Origins" will be released on Oct. 27.Ubisoft

The launch trailer "Assassin's Creed Origins" has been released, showing epic chariot races and action-packed battles across Egypt.

Following the low reviews and sales for "Assassin's Creed: Unity" and "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate," respectively, publisher Ubisoft took a year off to fine-tune the franchise and revamp its core features.

Now, the series is back with the never-before-told beginnings of the Brotherhood of Assassins. The game will follow the story of Bayek of Siwa, the last of the Medjay, or a group of warriors tasked to protect the pharaoh. Ptolemy XIII has taken over the kingdom, and Bayek's mission will be to bring Cleopatra back to her throne.

The launch trailer showcased the game's impressive visuals and exciting gameplay, with some reviews saying Ubisoft did a great job in changing the aesthetics of the series.

"Origins" will be a full country experience — from the Mediterranean Sea to the tombs of Giza — where players can discover the secrets of mummies and pharaohs as they uncover forgotten myths and pyramids. The ancient setting will offer players new ways to fight with hundreds of weapon selections in different characteristics and rarities.

Season Pass holders will get early bonuses from the game. Upon launch, they will receive 500 Helix Credits, which is the in-game currency, and the legendary weapon Calamity Blade. By November, they will get the Roman Centurion and Horus packs, special outfits, shields, weapons and mounts. Two downloadable contents — The Hidden Ones and The Curse of the Pharaohs — will arrive in early 2018.

Those without the Season Pass will also get a treat in the form of two events, which will be free for all players. Nomad's Bazaar, which will be available upon launch, is a daily quest that offers mysterious rewards and rare equipment. The Trial of the Gods, on the other hand, will be available 15 days after its release. Here, Bayek has to battle Egyptian gods due to a glitch in the Animus.

"Assassin's Creed Origins" will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC starting Oct. 27. A post-release update is also expected for Xbox One X support.
