Ubisoft has made it official: "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" is the newest entry to the studio's epic historical fiction video game series. The action-adventure open world game is set in Victorian London and players will get to trudge the milieu as a male or a female assassin.

The protagonists are the Frye twins from Crawley. One is named Jacob, who Ubisoft describes as having a "more hot headed, brash and rebellious" personality, while his sister Evie is a "relentless Assassin" and "a master of stealth." These characteristics make them deadly and fitting for the job. Players can switch between the two characters when playing in the open world but story missions limit them to use only one.

In a 9-minute gameplay footage, it was revealed that players will rely highly on horse-drawn carriages and grappling hooks as well as skills in street melee. Furthermore, with the heroes running after a criminal gang, the upcoming title will also be inclined to brawling and combat as opposed to the games before it.

Also, in this installment, players can team up with the era's prominent figures, such as biologist Charles Darwin and novelist Charles Dickens, in bringing down an oppressive union. There is hope that the celebrated personages will be native to the game and that a DLC won't have to be purchased to get them rallying around.

The title is a single-player game because Ubisoft opted to focus its energy on building "the biggest city based open-world that we've ever had for an Assassin's Creed game." It is 30 percent larger than the map in "Assassin's Creed Unity," and lays out six regions, namely Westminster, the Strand, the City of London, Whitechapel, Southwark, and Lambeth.

"Assassin's Creed Syndicate," which will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on Oct. 23 and by autumn for the PC, is priced a $60. There is a Gold Edition, priced at $90, which includes the season pass for the game.
