'Assassin's Creed Syndicate' news: New gameplay footage out

 Ubisoft Blog

A few days ago, Ubisoft gave observers and fans a sneak peek into "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" by releasing a footage of the alpha demo of the upcoming title. The video shows some of the updates that the developer and publisher have put together for the game.

Most of the highlights and improvements to the upcoming title include a more immersive gameplay for its melee combat, which is one of the signature features of every "Assassin's Creed" game. There are also clips where fans can see new additions, such as the main characters using grappling hooks and ziplines to travel.

Although conspicuously absent from the footage, dual-character wielding for players will also be introduced in "Assassin's Creed Syndicate." Players can interchange between two main characters – the brother and sister tandem of Jacob and Evie Frye. When played, both characters can freely roam the locations and areas already explored, although some missions may require the player to switch back or use the requisite assassin. The two main characters have different combat styles, and it is up to the player to use which one suits best. Jacob opts for a more brutal and up-front style of fighting, while Evie uses stealth and cunning to her advantage.

In addition to some gameplay features, the video also showcases how Ubisoft pictured London for the title. "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" is set in the capital in the Victorian era, and the main characters must fight against the Templars and gain control over the city. To do this, both Jacob and Evie must use underground contacts, do assassinations, raise and maintain gangs, and try to spread their influence across the city.

"Assassin's Creed Syndicate" is set to be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October.
