'Assassin's Creed: Syndicate' release date: What to know before launch this week

Ubisoft Blog

Fans of the long-running "Assassin's Creed" franchise are excited this week as the next iteration in the series rolls out this coming Friday. However, both for casual gamers and hardcore fans of the series, how is "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" different from the previous versions of the title?

Day One patch

Nearing its release date of Oct. 23, publisher Ubisoft released some details about the upcoming rollout. Apparently, according to PlayStationLifestyle, the rollout of the title will also come with a Day One patch. However, the update itself might just be some minor tweaks and improvements as the patch isn't that big. Contrary to rumors, the Day One patch for the title will just be around 520 GB for both the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

No multiplayer

Ubisfoft decided to deviate from the gameplay. In previous "Assassin's Creed" titles, there are online multiplayer game modes where players can be pitted against one another in their respective roles as assassins. However, the upcoming "Syndicate" title did away with the multiplayer aspect of the game, concentrating solely on the story and single player campaigns.

Post-launch content

Although there is no multiplayer mode in the title, Ubisoft softened this blow by offering an expanded world through post-launch content. In addition to this, "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" will have a Season Pass for hardcore players of the franchise. The pass will unlock additional post-launch content such as story mission packs, items bundles, and console-exclusive content.

Story and gameplay improvements

Story- and gameplay-wise, the upcoming title has so many changes and improvements. For the first time in the franchise, players can play as a male or female assassin since the story focuses on the tandem of the Frye siblings, each with their own styles of assassin techniques and gameplay. The game itself has so many improvements, such as more detailed and inclusive environment.
