The fourth major patch update for "Assassin's Creed: Unity" was supposed to be released on Dec. 15 to all platforms. But while it is already rolling out to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, players were disappointed after learning that the patch's release for PC has been delayed by developers.

Game publisher Ubisoft offered an explanation for the delay, knowing that hundreds of gamers are waiting for the bug fixes and solutions.

A blog post in Ubisoft's website reads, "Part of the team's effort to enhance frame rate for players involves replacing and updating portions of the Paris city map where we are seeing issues. This explains the large size of this title update (6.7 GB). However, since a large portion of the patch replaces existing files the net increase to the game's overall size will be less than 6.7 GB."

Patch 4 is under rigorous quality control to ensure that the developers deliver important updates and solutions to issues that were revealed by players through feedback over these past weeks. Ubisoft ended its post thanking the gamers for their understanding and their continued patience and support for the game.

The game publisher previously revealed that the fourth patch will resolve a long list of issues as well as improve the stability and performance of the game. Furthermore, the update will reportedly resolve online matchmaking and connectivity issues.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft's chief executive Yannis Mallat apologized to gamers for the rocky launch of "Assassin's Creed: Unity." Ubisoft swore to release more updates and fixes for the bugs found in the game. Thus, patch 4 will not be the end of the updates. In the letter of apology posted by Ubisoft, it encouraged the players to continue giving feedback when they encounter glitches and bugs in the game.

In order to appease disappointed and irritated gamers, the game publisher gifts loyal fans with either a free DLC of the game or a game title published by Ubisoft.
