Asus just announced the new Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi at the ongoing Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The company boasts that its latest device is the world's thinnest 12-inch laptop that can be transformed into both laptop and tablet. The hybrid device is only 7.6 mm thick and it runs with the latest Intel Core-M chips. 

But how does Asus' new device fare against the MacBook Air? Below is the comparison between the specs and features of the Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi and Apple's highly popular laptop.

Screen Display 

The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi has a 12.5-inch screen display with quad HD (2560 x 1480) resolution and a pixel density of 237 ppi. Meanwhile, consumers can choose between the 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch variants of the MacBook Air with 1366 x 768 and 1440 x 900 pixel resolutions, respectively. 

Processor 

Asus' newest offering packs the latest Intel Core-M processor paired with an Intel HD Graphics 5300 chip. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, is equipped with an Intel Core i5 chipset with an Intel HD Graphics 5000 GPU. 

Operating System 

Asus' laptop runs with the latest Windows 8.1 that can be upgraded to Windows 10 when it is released by Microsoft. The MacBook Air runs with Mac OS X Yosemite. 

Memory and Storage 

The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi has a 4 GB memory and storage of up to 128 GB. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air comes with a 4 GB memory that can be upgraded to 8 GB. Apple's laptop also has up to 256 GB storage.

Asus' latest device offer an 8-hour battery life. Apple announced that it improved the battery life of its MacBook and offers 12 hours of usage. 

Release Date and Pricing 

The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi will be released next month and has a lower price tag of $799, while the MacBook Air is being sold at the Apple Store and other retailers for $999.
