Asus ZenFone 3 Max, ZenFone 3 Laser release date: new ZenFone 3 models announced by Asus

Much like the previous ZenFone 2 series, Asus has announced new models for its newly launched ZenFone 3 lineup, although it remains to be seen if the new additions will have global releases.

At a special press launch held in Vietnam, Asus has confirmed that the ZenFone 3 series will also expand outside of its three previously-launched flagship iterations. The new additions to the ZenFone 3 family include the ZenFone 3 Laser and the ZenFone 3 Max.

Although being basic models for the series, the two new additions have specialized features, as their model name suggest. The ZenFone 3 Laser is the successor the Laser series of phones, and is focused on image capture. Priced at about $268, the new Laser iteration boasts of second-gen laser autofocus said to focus in under 0.03 seconds. It also has a 13-MP PixelMaster setup with a Sony IMX214 sensor with EIS. Aside from improved camera assembly, the ZenFone 3 Laser has all the current-gen specs of the family – octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage, and an ultrafast fingerprint scanner. The ZenFone 3 Laser also features a 5.5-inch display with 2.5D curved glass, and Android 6 right out of the box.

Meanwhile, the new ZenFone 3 Max upholds the "Max" variant of the lineups, since the new iteration boasts of a massive 4,100mAh battery, with powerbank mode, so the phone can also be used in reverse charging. It is also said that with power saving features, the new Max iteration can last for up to 30 days on standby.

The rest of the specs include a smaller 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with full HD resolution, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of onboard storage. The new ZenFone 3 Max also comes with Android 6.0 right out of the box. According to the event, the ZenFone 3 Max will have a price tag of around $200.
