In a series of new flagship releases these recent months, fans are wondering when Asus will announce the follow-up to its successful ZenFone 2 lineup. It looks like fans will not have that long to wait, as speculations suggest the ZenFone 3 lineup may appear by the end of the month.

According to Phone Arena, it is more than likely that Asus will announce its next flagship on May 30. The company has already confirmed that it will be holding a "Zenvolution" event at the Computex 2016, and it is expected that one of the highlights of the company's presentation will be its ZenFone 3 flagship.

Although Asus has yet to confirm the rumors, the industry follower said a ZenFone 3 announcement is already expected, given that the flagship is one of the most-anticipated among Asus products. In addition, supposed leaks have already come out about the ZenFone 3, further fueling the rumors of its imminent reveal.

One of the recent rumors about the ZenFone 3 is that much like its predecessor, the upcoming flagship will come out as a full lineup, complete with a base model and a premium, top-tier edition. There may also be a step-down version in the works. Gadgets by NDTV reports that at least two versions of the ZenFone 3 have already been spotted in various benchmark sites. Looking at the specs, these handsets may be step-down, special versions of the flagship, as they carry Snapdragon 615 and 650 chipsets. Both also feature 32 GB of onboard storage and 3 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, it is also expected that the ZenFone 3 will have some changes in its design, particularly a slimmer and sleeker build. Asus has already confirmed in previous reports that the company will be featuring USB Type-C ports in its future designs, and the ZenFone 3 is expected to be one of the devices on the list. In addition, it is also said that the new flagship will feature a fingerprint scanner.
