Asus just announced its predecessor, the Asus ZenWatch device, last September 2014 at the IFA event held in Berlin, Germany, and later released it in November.

The original ZenWatch smartwatch was commended by The Verge for its design including the brightness of the device's display screen.

Recent reports say the new ZenWatch 2 device is expected to come in stainless steel with two different sizes and three different colors. Cross Map reported that the new smartwatch will come in silver, gunmetal grey and rose gold colors.

Following the footsteps of tech giant Apple Inc., the Taiwanese company will offer would-be owners a 45 x 37 mm model and a 49 x 41 mm model, according to reports. Wearable reported that the 45 x 37 mm model will come with an 18 mm strap and the 49 x 41 mm model will have a 22 mm strap.

Ecumenical News added that the strap for the 49 x 41 mm model can be replaced with another one available in the market. Other reports suggested more color options with different materials for the strap will also be available to consumers. In addition to the colors and sizes, the new device is expected to come with improved features in comparison with its predecessor.

The new ZenWatch 2 will be similar, in terms of its design, to the original ZenWatch and will now have a button located on its side. The new smartwatch is expected to have an AMOLED display screen, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, along with a Qualcomm processor. Users will also be able to connect the new ZenWatch 2 device with the Wellness app on Android-based smartphones, according to a report.

The release date still remains unclear as of this time, but reports say the new ZenWatch 2 device will be released sometime before the end of the year.
