Atlanta Hawks NBA 2015 news: Could improve with DeAndre Jordan

Wikipedia

Going through the season of the Atlanta Hawks, one thing that the team is sorely missing is a man in the middle. The position calls for a man that doesn't necessarily have to score but to intimidate and add more muscle inside the paint.

Millsap tried to fill in the hole but obviously it wasn't enough. Hence, this could be a position the Hawks may want to address heading into free agency.

There will be a lot of big men in free agency, most of whom are expected to be aggressively pursued. Marc Gasol, Kevin Love and LaMarcus Aldridge are among the buzz names we hear right now though they may not necessarily be realistic targets.

So how about DeAndre Jordan? There is no word on whether the long-time Clippers center will be staying or going but just the same but he is worth a shot.

The Clips are expected to keep him but that doesn't mean Jordan will not be listening. Though he may not be in the same caliber of a Kevin Love or Marc Gasol, he has proven that he is a mean defensive anchor which could resolve the Hawks problems in the middle.

Jordan is no offensive sensation but seeing that the Hawks have a lot of that, Jordan should do. He brings blocking and rebounding, two key areas that the Hawks were sorely missing this season.

A successful Jordan courtship will also allow players like Al Horford to move back to their actual position which is power forward. A Horford and Jordan combo could be vicious.

Jordan does need some improvement on his free throws though Kyle Korver could give him a tip or two as well as the other shooting coaches on hand. Jordan could be a great catch but the problem now is will Doc Rivers give up Jordan just like that?
