The first footage from the forthcoming live-action "Attack on Titan" film recently made the rounds, and it did not fail to excite fans awaiting new details about the movie adaptation of the hit manga series.

The footage, which was aired in a Japanese program, was in its native language but nonetheless, viewers across the globe are one in saying that the video proves that the movie will be an exciting one.

And thankfully, fans outside of the Land of the Rising Sun will not wonder what is spoken in the trailer as Anime News Network has provided an English translation of the footage.

Narration: Over one hundred years ago... Half of humanity was eaten by the titans that suddenly appeared... The humanity that remained created a giant wall, and lived peacefully.

Text: Anticipated by the whole world!!

Mikasa: The world is cruel...

Eren: If we mess up, that's the end for humanity.

Title: Attack on Titan

To bring more excitement, posters showing characters in daring stance and brave expressions were released.

"Attack on Titan" manga creator Hajime Isayama will not be working behind the scenes but film director Shinji Higuchi is working with him to ensure that the move to the silver screen will give justice to the hit manga series.

The "Attack on Titan" live-action film will be divided into two movies, both of which will show off the chaotic Titan-plagued world of Eren, Mikasa and new characters. Just like the manga, the flick is expected to follow the never-ending battle between mankind, who are driven behind a wall for self-preservation, and the flesh-eating giants overrunning the world outside the wall.

Fans in Japan will see it the first part of the film on Aug. 1 and the second one on Sept. 19.
