While the second season of the anime adaptation of "Attack on Titan" doesn't have a specific premiere date yet, speculations and rumors are already floating online on what will happen in the continuing saga of humanity versus the giant Titans.

According to rumors, it is bandied about that season 2 will serve as the finale for the anime adaptation and will see the demise of some beloved characters as well.

In a report from Ecumenical News, it is mentioned that based on how close the anime adaptation is to the original manga series, it might not be long before the anime series reaches its climax. An earlier report by Comic Book Resources had original "Shingeki no Kyojin" creator Kawakubo Shintaro admitting that the original manga only has three years' worth of story left, the manga being about 60 percent finished. This means that since the anime adaptation closely follows the manga storyline and at least four story arcs behind, the anime show will also end at around the same time as the manga.

However, the structure for the entire second season has not yet been confirmed, and since there were subtle differences between the original and the anime adaptations, the story for "Attack on Titan" might be restructured to continue after season 2.

Meanwhile, as for what happens with the story and the characters, it was rumored that some beloved protagonists will likely perish when season 2 continues. MNR Daily mentioned that in one of the spoilers and predictions for the second season, a number of factors will contribute to Levi Ackerman meeting his demise. There were also predictions that main character Eren Yeager will also have his brush with death, as he is being hunted by both humans and Titans due to the Coordinate inside him, which has the ability to control Titan minds.
