One of the most highly anticipated anime series is "Attack on Titan" season 2. The second season has been intentionally delayed in order for the manga to publish at least up to 4 distinct story arcs in order to prevent the anime from catching up and using filler episodes. It is now confirmed that season 2 will be coming out later this year.

According to a report from CrossMap, series creator Tetsuro Araki has confirmed that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will be coming out by the second half of the year. The report also points out that despite Araki collaborating closely with manga writer Hajime Isayama, there are still many deviations that the anime series takes from the original manga.

It is speculated by fans that "Attack on Titan" season 2 may release no sooner than June of this year. This is because the current manga series is just two arcs ahead of the anime and it may take the first half of the year to finish the required four-arc lead. However, this doesn't mean that the anime is not already beginning production.

If the rumors prove true then it is likely that season 2 may release any time between July and September of this year. Unfortunately, given that this is not based on information directly from the studios or the creators, it should still be considered as pure speculation based on the manga's release schedule.

The report does point out what is expected to be showcased in season 2, such as the introduction of a new type of Titan that resembles a giant ape, Commander Erwin Smith leading a revolution that will end with him being crowned as king and that the Reiss Family is the genuine royal family. Bertolt Hoover and Reiner Braun will also be revealed as the Colossal Titan and Armored Titan, respectively.

At the least, "Attack on Titan" season 2 will launch before the year ends.
