The eagerly anticipated sequel season to the hugely popular anime "Attack on Titan" has reportedly had its premiere date pushed to next year. Fans were disappointed to find out on the "Attack on Titan" Wiki page earlier this May that the creation of the anime has been delayed due to various factors unconfirmed by the creators.

Ecumenical News reports that it was speculated the new anime season will be out in January of 2017. They also mention rumors stating that it could be mainly due to the "lack of available source material". Other rumors also suggest that this upcoming season may provide a definite final conclusion to the saga once and for all, and that this could be the last season for this series.

Vine Report also mentions Kodansha allegedly announcing their confirmation of the delay, along with the news that it was caused by the director of the anime series being busy "working on other projects" in the meantime. This is understandable, since the director, Tetsuro Araki, is also said to be working on "Koutetsujou no Kabaneri "("Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress") alongside "Attack on Titan." Other speculations blame "Kabaneri for the delay"; however, production should be officially finished on this anime by now, so Araki shouldn't have any other projects to make him delay any more work on the second season of "Attack on Titan."

International BusinessTimes has reported that there are several dissimilarities between the anime and manga, and what were considered small details in season 1 may actually cause entire new story lines to diverge from the original plot of the manga. The Clash of Titans and Uprising story arcs might even be erased entirely. The anime's producers have kept quiet on this front, most probably to keep fans interested in what the turnout of the anime might be.
