Attack on Titan season 2 release date unknown but prequel airing draws near

It has been almost a year since "Attack on Titan" Season 1 had aired its last episode, but the second season is still nowhere to be found.

However, reports say that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 is finally on its way and the production for the new episodes had begun since Aug. 2014. Still, there are no official statements yet about its release date.

It is very understandable that fans are getting more impatient for the release of Season 2, since the last airing date of "Attack on Titan" Season 1 happened last Sept. 28, 2013. Almost a year has passed, and they are getting weary of waiting too long.

So, to make the waiting more tolerable, an OVA series was announced by the developers last August. The two-episode spin-off will be the adaptation of the prequel manga called "Attack on Titan: No Regrets."

Allegedly, the OVA series will be aired in two parts. One is scheduled on Dec. 9, 2014, and the other one will be on April 9, 2015. The releases will also coincide with the distribution of the 15th and 16th volume of the Japanese manga series, which was originally titled "Shingeki no Kyojin."

Also, the first season will allegedly be compiled into two movies. The first one, to be shown on Nov. 22, will feature the first 13 episodes, and will be called "Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow."

On the other hand, the remaining episodes will be included on the second film that is slated to be called "Attack on Titan Part 2: Wings of Freedom," which will come out next year.

In another news, the manga version of "Attack on Titan" won the "Best American Edition of Foreign Material" award during this year's Harvey Awards held last Sep. 6. Hajime Isayama's original story bested several other popular mangas, including "Showa: A History of Showa Japan" by Shigeru Mizuki, and Taiyo Matsumoto's "Sunny."
