The first official trailer for the upcoming "Attack on Titans' movie has been released.

Earlier this month, the official website began streaming the official trailer to the live-action movie adaptation of "Shingeki no Kyojin". However, the trailer is in Japanese, and most of the fans of the franchise worldwide clamoured for an edited version.

Australian distributor of the film Madman Entertainment, early this week, answered fans' calls and streamed an English-subtitled version of the trailer. In the video, the premise for the story on both the movie and the manga was laid out. One hundred years ago, titans suddenly appeared on earth. Human civilization is on the verge of collapsing due to the attacks. To remedy the situation, humans built giant walls to defend themselves, and put up communities within the giant walls. Humans lived in peace but 100 years later, the giant wall was broken and humanity is again on the brink of extinction due to the titans.

The live-action adaptation of the popular manga is to be divided into two movies. The first one, titled "Shingeki No Kyojin", will open in Japan on August 1.

In the story highlighted by the trailer, it seems that as time had gone by, humans do not currently believe that titans exist. The main protagonist of the series, Eren, was confined to live his life inside the huge walls said to protect humanity from titans. One day, the walls were shattered, and a titan over 50 meters tall gave way to a horde of other titans meant to make food out of the human settlements.

Eren then joins the 'Outer Wall Restoration Team' to fight against the titans. Together with his childhood friend Mikasa and new comrades, Eren fights his way across a landscape filled with titans in order to plug the breached wall.

The second movie, subtitled "End of the World", will premiere on September 19.
