Drenched by Fire
Campus Crusade for Christ Australia's HQ suffered extensive damage from fire fighting efforts to save a second floor dance studio in West Rude, Sydney. Thousands of litres of water used to put out the Sunday evening fire (14th March) seeped through the flooring of the dance studio, onto CCCA's HQ office.
National Director of CCCA, Bill Hodgon was called to the scene around 10pm. Along with a CCCA member, Ian Finnan, and fire fighters, Bill went upstairs to inspect the office. Ceiling panels were on top of desk, computers etc. The offices were drenched, with the Information Technology area most severely affected. Main servers were soaked, the entire computer network and phones were out, as is the power supply. Fortunately, there was little damage to the resource department on the ground floor. Relocation of office is being sorted out as it is impossible to work in the present condition.
"We are working as hard as we can to get back up as soon as possible", Bill said. "The HQ team is responding to the crisis very well and we are eager to move forward but can't do much until we find an alternative location for the immediate future. We are trusting God's provision of the right place to relocate to get back into operation."
"We have all the data back-ups and the insurance will assist with expenses of recovery, so while I am confident of getting back quickly", Bill said, "the immediate disruption to financial operations, donor support processing (mostly electronic), computer banking, mail-out/communications, processing members support, not to mention day to day HQ operations is significant. We ask our friends and supporters of the ministry for prayer, patience and any practical assistance they are able to provide. Fortunately the fruitful work of sharing the gospel and making disciples through the 13 different field ministries through which our people work in Australia and abroad will not be effected." Every day CCCA teams are working the harvest field in Universities, schools and partnering with churches in the community and God is blessing that work with tremendous fruit of changed lives.
