Ever since "Avatar" was released and met with worldwide success in 2009, viewers thought that a sequel wouldn't be far off. And after over five years of waiting, fans of the blue-skinned humanoids of Pandora will finally have something to look forward to in "Avatar 2."

Sci-fi director James Cameron reportedly has scripts ready for the said sequel, as well as "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4."

The original sci-fi epic saw the apparent death of Sigourney Weaver's character, Dr. Grace Augustine. After getting shot, she seemingly died before the Na'vi could complete the transfer of her consciousness to her avatar body.

It was later reportedly confirmed that Weaver would be back to reprise her role, causing fans to wonder how that could be possible.

While promoting the release of the extended edition of "Avatar" back in 2010, Cameron said to the press: "Who said she died? Nobody dies in a science fiction movie. Whether Grace lives or dies depends more on Sigourney's agent than anything."

But Weaver isn't the only dead character being brought back to life.

Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who was struck and seemingly killed by huge arrows in the first film, will also be back. He will not only be in "Avatar 2," but will reportedly be in all three sequels.

"Steven was so memorable in the first film, we're privileged to have him back," the Canadian filmmaker said in an exclusive with Deadline. "I'm not going to say exactly how we're bringing him back, but it's a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who's also become a good friend."

According to MoviePilot, all three films will be released through years 2017 to 2019--dropping one film per year.

Anything can happen in science fiction.
