Disney's acquisition of 21^st Century Fox made the idea of the X-Men and Avengers team-up possible. However, those who are expecting the dream crossover to happen soon will be disappointed to know what Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says about it.

Vulture grilled Feige about the possibility of the X-Men and Fantastic Four's integration to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) during the press junket for "Black Panther" recently and he revealed that he was not given any heads up about the looming deal, insisting it was "above his pay grade." While the deal is official now, Feige also claimed parts of the deal still need to be figured out. That includes the arrival of Fox's Marvel properties to Mouse House's shared universe.

"There's been no communication," he explained to the publication. "We're not thinking about it. We're focusing on everything we've already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we'll start to think more about it. Until then, we have a lot to do."

When asked for a timeframe for the potential crossover, he said: "It would be years away. We've announced everything through 2019, so none of those would be adjusted."

Of course, this does not mean they are opposed to an X-Men/Avengers crossover. Feige previously said they fantasized about Spider-Man's integration into the MCU years before Marvel's deal with Sony. Disney head Bob Iger has also made it clear before that he is interested in bringing Fox's Marvel characters over.

Feige said that for now, they are focusing on delivering everything that has been promised so far. Marvel's current slate includes "Black Panther, "Avengers: Infinity War," "Ant-Man and the Wasp 2," "Captain Marvel," a fourth untitled "Avengers" movie, Sony/Marvel's "Spiderman: Homecoming" sequel, and "Guardians of the Galaxy 3." A Black Widow movie is also in development, but it is still in its early creative stages.
