Evangeline Lilly portrayed Hope van Dyne in "Ant-Man," but she did not get her Wasp suit until the very end of the film. The actress has also just confirmed that she will not be donning the suit in "Avengers: Infinity War" but will be a part of the roster of superheroes in the yet-untitled "Avengers 4."

Speaking to Blastr, she explained that the reason why she would not be in "Avengers: Infinity War" was that it premieres a few months prior to the release of "Ant-Man and the Wasp." She stated that they wanted her entrance as the Wasp to be in an "Ant-Man" film and not the "Avengers" sequel.

"There's an 'Avengers' series coming out, I believe it's a two-parter, and, the Wasp won't be in the first part, she'll be in the second part because they want to preserve that reveal for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp,'" she explained. "We're going to see the Wasp for the first time take on the mantle and put on the suit and fly about and do her thing," she went on to say.

Some characters have made their debut in collaboration films. Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk made his debut appearance in the first "Avengers" movie and Vision (Paul Bettany) debuted in the sequel. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) did not debut in their own series but in "Captain America: Civil War."

Lilly also confirmed that a script has been completed, but it has not been approved yet. As it is with many films, the script is likely to undergo numerous revisions before production moves forward. Because of this, no official cast list has been released, although Collider does point out that Michael Peña will return.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is scheduled to premiere on May 4, 2018, and it will be followed by "Ant-Man and the Wasp" on July 6, 2018. "Avengers 4" will premiere on May 3, 2019.
