While "Captain America: Civil War" is yet to be released in the U.S., fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are already excited to know more about "Avengers: Infinity War," after film directors Joe and Anthony Russo talked about the upcoming film.

The filmmakers revealed early this year that the two-part movie series will feature 67 characters from the Marvel Comics. But the Russos just revealed that they will not include the Marvel characters that are currently featured on TV.

"The Marvel Universe is sprawling – the Marvel Cinematic Universe is enormous. Just think of all the characters that haven't been introduced yet that are going to be introduced by the time that we're working on Infinity War," the film directors said in an interview with BadTaste.

They also explained that it is already hard for them to choose who should be included in the next installments of the "Avengers" franchise based on the movies alone. It will also be hard for them to include the characters from the Marvel TV series.

"It's certainly something we're considering. But our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side," they added.

But while there is no confirmed report regarding the list of characters who will be included in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" films, speculations claim that Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, will be a part of the movies.

Heroic Insider revealed that the actress who will portray the iconic role of Captain Marvel will be appearing on the set of "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" later this year. However, casting call for the said character is still open.

Captain Marvel's inclusion in the upcoming films could provide more diversity in the MCU, since she will be a welcome addition to the list of important female superheroes in the movies.

"Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" will debut on May 4, 2018, while "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
