Chris Hemsworth's Thor underwent a massive change in "Thor: Ragnarok" that is expected to carry on into his future appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), including next year's "Avengers: Infinity War." However, there seems to be a big continuity error between the third Asgardian installment and the first footage from "Avengers 3."

After the climatic fight against Hela (Cate Blanchett), Thor now sports an all-new, all-different look. Gone are some of his biggest sources of pride: his hammer Mjolnir, his long blonde mane, and his right eye, which is now covered by a bronze eyepatch just like his late father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

However, in the first-look teaser for "Avengers: Infinity War" revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 a few months ago, Thor was still in one piece. While his head was shaved, the God of Thunder had no eye injury or eye patch on his face.

In all likelihood, Comic Book explains that was intended to avoid spoiling the events of "Thor: Ragnarok." If Marvel had kept all things accurate, Marvel fans would have speculated about the plot of the movie like crazy. Also, it was not just "Infinity War" that played visual trickery to avoid too many spoilers.

"Ragnarok" itself did the same continuity error in the trailers. The moment Thor landed on the rainbow bridge, there was also no sign of his eye injury, thanks to the lightning crackling out of his eyes.

Hemsworth confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the Asgardian Avenger will be without his right eye moving forward. "Yeah we carry it into the film with the eye patch you see in this film," he told the publication. Now that the cat is out of the bag, there is a chance he will be sporting his new look in the public version of "Avengers: Infinity War" trailer.

The third "Avengers" movie is set to premiere on May 4, 2018. Other upcoming Marvel films include "Black Panther" on February 16, 2018, "Ant-Man and the Wasp" on July 6, 2018, and "Captain Marvel" on March 8, 2019. These will be followed by "Avengers 4" on May 3, 2019, the sequel to "Spider-Man: Homecoming" on July 5, 2019, and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" in 2020.
