Thanos (Josh Brolin) has been teased in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his first appearance in the 2012 film "Avengers." However, the character has never really gotten enough screen time to shine. According to a report from the Huffington Post, that is all about to change in the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" film.

Screenwriter Christopher Markus addressed that while Thanos has been teased with a few glimpses in the previous films, it will still be fresh and different when he is given the chance to shine as the main villain of the upcoming films.

"There's an aspect of, you know, people know what's coming, so our challenge is how best are we going to handle this somewhat known quantity. But also he's barely been touched on. He's at about 20 seconds of screen time," the writer explained.

His co-writer, Stephen McFeely, explained that their main advantage going into "Infinity War" is the fact that up to this point Thanos has not yet had an amazing scene in any of the clips he's been in. This guarantees that the audience is already eager to see what Thanos can do and all the films need to do is to deliver on that potential.

The writers reiterate that Thanos has never been the main villain in any of the MCU films which means one of their top priorities is to give the character much more screen time in the upcoming movies now that he is being presented as the main villain.

As stated in a report from Screen Rant, one of the main consistent issues within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that the films lack a good villain other than Loki (Tom Hiddleston). "Avengers: Infinity War" will have to prove that the Marvel films can fix this by presenting Thanos as a formidable and awe-inspiring villain to take on the titular heroes.

"Avengers: Infinity War" part one will be released on May 4, 2018 while part two will be released on May 3, 2019.
