Former President Barack Obama revealed how he danced to Prince, months before the funk rock legend passed away.

In an interview with David Letterman for his upcoming Netflix show "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman," the former world leader shared how he showcased his "dad moves" in front of Prince.

Mr. Obama explained it was three or four months before the music legend died. Prince called the younger then presidential daughter Sasha, who Mr. Obama called an "excellent dancer," to join him on stage for a dance.

"Then Sasha pulls me up, which surprises me because she always mocks my dancing but I have dad moves. And I think the key is what we call, 'Staying in the pocket,'" the 56-year-old father shared, to the audience's laughter.

According to him, it is very important for fathers to "stay in the pocket" when dancing, otherwise they end up doing really embarrassing moves.

"They're trying stuff that they can't really pull off and they start doing like, karate kicks and all kinds of stuff," he joked.

The clip ends with him asking if it was not something the host does, to more laughter from Letterman and the audience.

Mr. Obama has always been very vocal about his love for Prince, which was probably why he did not hesitate to dance when Prince called his daughter on stage.

In 2015, Prince, along with Stevie Wonder, performed a "top-secret" very exclusive concert in the East Wing of the White House. The show was attended by about 500 A-list family and friends of the former president and then first lady Michelle Obama.

The upcoming episode of "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" is a first for both persons involved. It is the first time Letterman is hosting a TV show since he left the "Late Night" in 2015. It is also Mr. Obama's first talk show guesting since he left his presidential post in January 2017.

The first episode of "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" premieres Jan. 12, Friday, on Netflix.
