Barcelona will be favorites to win this year's competition, although they will understand how difficult it is, and what a long path stands before them, to retain their title.

Luis Enrique, the Barcelona boss, has boasted this week that Messi is the best football player ever. Tonight will be Messi's 100th Champions League game, and Enrique has been full of praise for his top player ahead of the game.

"Messi isn't just the best player in the world, he's the best the game has ever seen," said Enrique.

With Messi in their team, Barca fans will have hope that their team can become the first side since the 1990 AC Milan team to win consecutive titles in Europe's top cup competition.

Tonight will also see Enrique visit his old team, and that is sure to make for an emotional return for the man who managed them in 2011 and 2012. He has insisted that Barca are not favorites for this year's title, and says that all 32 teams start as equals.

Enrique has said, "The goal of winning a second consecutive Champions League does not bring added pressure. We'll try to do it but it's not pressure - quite the opposite. When the ball starts to move there are no champions and no favorites but 32 teams who want to win the title."
