"Bates Motel" season 5 will mark the entrance of Marion Crane, the screaming lady in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 horror thriller classic "Psycho," the same character whom Norman Bates kills in the now-iconic shower scene of the film.
According to Zap2it, it will be amazing to see the role popularized by Janet Leigh to be played in "Bates Motel" season 5 by Vera Farmiga's younger sister Taissa Farmiga.
The publication believes that the younger Farmiga's effortless resemblance to her sister can be taken advantage of in "Bates Motel" season 5. Here's a look at the Farmiga sisters.
Since Norman (Freddie Highmore) has grown obsessed with killing his mom Norma, which he eventually managed to do in the "Bates Motel" season 4 finale, seeing someone alive that looks like her will definitely put him in killer mode once more.
Considering the unstable state of Norman's mind, it would be easy to imagine him mistaking Marion Crane, should it be played by Taissa, for his mother, causing him to murder her.
Apart from the shared DNA with Vera, Taissa definitely has the horror chops to pull off the Marion Crane role in "Bates Motel" season 5. Her biggest credit in the field of horror is her two-season stint in the FX horror anthology "American Horror Story."
As for her sister Vera, she will have a "modified role" in the new season since her character is basically dead. Now, she only exists in the twisted mind of his son.
"In the original 'Psycho' you don't really know anything about Norma Bates. You just know that she's a corpse, and you imagine that she was this shrew of a woman who berated her son into becoming crazy," executive producer Carlton Cuse told TV Line.
"But we re-imagined their relationship as this complex, intense, co-dependent love story. And that relationship continues very much in Season 5. It just has a different dimension, which is that she's dead. But it's not the end of the story," he further teased.
"Bates Motel" season 5 is set to premiere March next year.
